'Within, the film' demonstrates my appreciation for horror movies through the green hues, choppy editing and graininess of the Found Footage-esche film.

AJ Turner is a Fine Artist based in Leeds.  His work involves him using the medium of film and poetry to convey horror and discomfort. Utilising poetry in his works intertwines an inherent sensuality into the disturbing nature of his storytelling. The positioning of his films is important as it  creates an enforced power dynamic between the viewer and the art.  With being a transgender individual, communicating the discomfort he feels in his body and his identity was a driving force for his practice. He has since shifted my practice towards the discomfort anyone can feel, using a heteronormative lens of sensuality as the tool for this.  Turner uses the (body) horror genre to communicate this discomfort and disgust provide the audience with the opportunity to confront and experience these feelings.
